Harvested by hand in mid-October, it is vinified through soft destemming followed by fermentation in stainless steel with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature and then 20 days of maceration on the skins, with frequent pumping over and délestage. It matures for 24 months in large (10 hl) Slavonian oak casks. Maturation ends in bottles lying down for 6 months.

FeaturesTasting notes

Ruby red wine with orange highlights. The bouquet is ample with notes of spices, black fruits, withered rose. On the palate there are black fruits and strawberry jam, elegant, persistent with well dosed tannins.

Wine & foodAbbinations

The wine should be served at room temperature. It goes very well with lamb, roasts, fillet steak, braised meat, game and mature cheeses.

Roero Batistin is a very elegant red wine of great charm and perspective. There is theimprimatur of Nebbiolo in this wine, with elegant and never intrusive characters. In other words, its soul is that of the most aristocratic of Piedmontese vines.

In the glass, all the characteristics of the Roero are fully satisfied. Batistin presents itself - with a particularly fruity and fragrant style - right from its attractive ruby colour. A nuance that, over time, takes on increasingly insistent garnet reflections.

On the nose, its complex fruitiness is reminiscent of violets, raspberries and wild strawberries. Without masking a clear ethereal complexity that opens up to spicy hints of cinnamon, pepper and, over the years, vanilla.

On the palate, the flavour becomes dry, broad, warm and, for many, velvety.

This intriguing, savoury harmony makes Roero Batistin one of the most welcome guests at the table. The non-exuberant structure and moderate tannins make it an enjoyable companion for many gastronomic adventures: tasty Piedmontese first courses and then roasts and stews of meat or medium-aged cheeses.
